Comparing fire-resistant joint compounds: Which brands have you had the best experience with?

I hear you on GHI, but I’ve had a different experience. Last project, we used it, and it was a nightmare to sand down. Ended up taking way more time than we budgeted for. I’m leaning towards JKL now; it’s a bit pricier, but the time saved on labor makes up for it.

Interesting to hear about GHI. I’ve been using MNO, and it’s been pretty reliable for fire resistance. The only downside is it can be a bit finicky in humid conditions. But overall, it’s been solid for the price point.

I’m all about PQR brand. It’s not the cheapest, but the ease of application and the fact that it doesn’t shrink or crack has saved me so much hassle. Plus, it’s got a great track record with fire safety inspectors.

Has anyone tried STU brand? I’ve heard mixed reviews, but their marketing claims it’s the best for both fire resistance and ease of use. Curious if anyone has real-world experience with it.

I’ve been experimenting with VWX lately. It’s a newer brand, but so far, so good. The fire resistance is top-notch, and it’s been easy to work with. Only time will tell how it holds up, but I’m optimistic.
